Most of the Easy PC Recording Studio software is self-explanatory
but let us take you through the program’s features:
Main window

Open - lets you load in a new song – select the
directory and folder where you save your karaoke files - you can load
in and playback audio from any mp3 file, however, only files created using
our MP3Karaoke™ format will display the lyrics to a song. You can
find 1000s of songs at our website www.karaokeisland.com
Play - starts playback of loaded files.
Stop - press once and playback stops/pauses. Press
the "Play" button again and playback resumes from the pause
position. If you press "Stop" button twice the song position
jumps back to the beginning of the song.
Options – Lyrics settings

Options - lets you select the various Lyrics style display
options:
- Font:
Select the font type/size of your lyrics display.
- Background:
Select a background color for your lyrics window.
- Lyric color:
Select lyric color that is inactive.
- Active Lyric color:
Select lyric color of the active words to be sung
Lyrics window options:
- Lyrics in attached window:
Lyrics window forms one unit with the control unit
- Lyrics in separate window:
Lyrics window can be freely sized and moved (the display window can
also be moved to a 2nd Monitor if you have duel monitor display capabilities,
check under your display properties for this feature)
- Lyrics in both windows:
Ideal if you use 2nd monitor display for singers and control player
transport functions from the primary monitor display.
Karaoke style – lets you select the way the active
lyrics are highlighted:
- Syllable:
The active syllables are highlighted in succession.
- Letters:
The letters get "swiped" as they turn active. This style is
less accurate, but is more the traditional display style used in Karaoke
CD+Gs.
Highlight style:
- Inverse highlight:
This display mode makes the active lyric display very obvious, since
the area around the active words invert color.
- Letter highlight:
In this display mode only the active letters themselves change color.
Separate Lyrics window

About - contains contact details for software support
issues.
Song position - scrolls along as the song plays back.
After pausing playback of a song (single click on the “stop”
button) you can jump to any position in the song by dragging the slider
to the desired new position. This feature is only available after the
song has been started and paused.
Volume slider - lets you adjust the playback volume.
(The reaction time of the the sliders/faders will vary system to system
depending on processor speed and available memory)
Record button - sets the software into record mode.
Record Pref. – lets you select the right sound
card and recording source for your PC (normally Mic or Microphone)
Create Master - lets you create or write a mix of your
vocal/instrumental recording with the mp3 backing track as a WAV file.
If you have enabled any effects (Reverb, Vibrato, Chorus)these will also
be included in the new WAV file.
Input Level – lets you adjust the input signal
strength of your attached microphone.
Balance Slider - lets you adjust the volume balance
between your recording and the backing track music/mp3.
Effects - these can be switched on/off and are active
on the recorded vocal/instrumental only. They are also non-destructive
since the actual recording stays intact. We like to mention these are
for fun only – do not expect professional quality. They do provide
an easy way to play with various settings and add some reverb or modulation
effects to your recording. We have found they sound best when used sparingly.
This concludes the overview of our software.
Here a quick tutorial how to record with our software:
How to Record
- Load in a song. Select “Open” then navigate to the Directory/Folder
where your MP3Karaoke™ files are stored. Select a file and click
“Open”.
- For good results you will need to experiment a bit with the Input
Level slider/meter to get the right signal strength. Simply press Record
and sing a short section and press “Stop” twice - this will
take you back to the beginning of the song. Press “play”
and listen to your first recording to see if it sounds clean or distorted.
Move the “balance slider” between left (putting up volume
of your recording) and right (putting up volume of the backing music).
Once you have experimented a bit and found the right balance of music
to vocal you are ready to record.
If you get no input signal please check that you have selected the right
settings in "Record Pref." Please check to see that a microphone
is plugged into the correct input on your computer and that your selection
in the software match the settings in your PC’s audio or multimedia
settings. Input/Output selections are usually accessible through the
Windows’ Control Panel.
- For your actual recording you can:
a) sing the song all the way through
b) use punch-in - for this feature you start recording. If you would
like to re-record a section or continue where you left off simply let
the music play to the point you want to resume recording and press "Stop"
once. Next press "Record" and the music will start from there
on, replacing anything that you recorded previously from that point
on. As soon as you press "Stop" again your new recording stops
and anything that you might have recorded after this point will also
stay intact. With a bit of practise you can get the perfect take put
together!
How to Mix your New Recording
- Once your recording is complete you can add some effects. As mentioned
already these are really for fun only. For best results use them sparingly.
For vocal recordings you might simply want to add a bit of Reverb. You
can also record instruments rather than vocals. For instuments, the
other effects (Vibrato, Chorus) might come in handy.
- When you are finished with your session it is time to save. As you
press "Create Master" you are asked where you want to save
the WAV mix down file. It is saved as a 44.1 kHz, 16 bit stereo WAV
file. If you like to have a mp3 version, we recommend the FREE software
“dbpowerAMP” Music Converter which you can download at www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm.
This lets you convert WAV files to mp3, choosing your own quality of
settings.
Now we would like to wish you many happy recording sessions with Easy
PC Recording Studio.
